Novo Nordisk recognizes the need for novel therapeutic approaches to treat chronic diseases more effectively. Because science alone will not provide global health, the company works with key decision makers across a
variety of sectors. This is a huge undertaking that requires partnerships, innovation, and long-term commitment.
In the United States,
Novo Nordisk has entered into many strategic alliances in our efforts to change the course of diabetes for good. We collaborate on various initiatives with prestigious medical institutions, such as the Mayo Clinic and Joslin Diabetes Center, with leading healthcare companies like Medtronic Diabetes, and with influential third-party organizations, such as the American Diabetes Association, to name a few. In addition, we recently established an office in Washington, D.C., to work with patient advocacy groups to improve treatment, care, and healthcare coverage for people with diabetes.
Internationally
...Novo Nordisk has invested in establishing the Oxford Center for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism. The Company has partnered with the University of Oxford and the World Health Organization to create the Oxford Vision 2020 process. In addition, Novo Nordisk is developing research initiatives with the European Association for the Study of Diabetes as well as the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International. In 2001, Novo Nordisk established the World Diabetes Foundation. Most recently announced, Novo Nordisk will be the only pharmaceutical company, together with approximately 100 scientists from all over Europe, to participate in the agreement between The European Commission and the Technical University of Denmark on 'Biosimulation - A New Tool in Drug Development' under the European Union's Sixth Framework Programme for Research.
